Dr. Chris Muldoon Appointed Trustee of the Assistance Dog Assessment Association
The Assistance Dog Assessment Association (ADAA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Chris Muldoon as a Trustee, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience across guide and assistance dog training, education, research, and accreditation.
Chris has worked across Australia, the UK and Asia in a wide range of leadership and specialist roles. He is currently Director of Training and Staff Education Specialist at the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association, where he leads training and professional development for instructors and staff. Earlier in his career, he worked across most Australian states, helped develop the RSB Guide and Assistance Dog Service in South Australia, and later held senior roles with Guide Dogs UK in service delivery and research.
Chris is deeply involved in the international sector. He is an International Assessor with the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) and Chair of its Accreditation Committee, and also serves on the Assistance Dogs International (ADI) Education Committee and Training Certification Committee, helping to shape standards and best practice worldwide.
Academically, Chris holds degrees in medical sciences, psychology, orientation and mobility, and special education (vision impairment), as well as two PhDs from Glasgow Caledonian University and Flinders University — reflecting his strong interest in evidence-based practice.
Chris is a strong advocate for ethical, client-centred and animal-centred work. He supports the idea of agency — the ability of individuals (including animals) to make their own choices — balanced with professional responsibility for safety and wellbeing.
